Leicester's Only Pub Theatre

Upstairs at the Western is Leicester’s only pub theatre. We programme at least 50% female or non-binary led work with a focus on small cast high quality shows.

After 18 months of closure due to Coronavirus we are opening again in September 2021. We have survived this terrible time due to emergency funding from Arts Council England.

We are a 42 seat black box theatre with full tech and projection.

We are above the fabulously renovated The Western a much loved community pub – now with Cafe West – in the heart of Leicester’s vibrant West End.

We plan to return to a full programme of shows as soon as we can

Support Upstairs at The Western
